Sureo is an online marketplace that connects students and staff of Nigerian universities so they can buy, sell, rent, trade and order food and services. Sureo is a platform only. Unless we expressly say otherwise, we are not the seller, buyer, or owner of any item or service listed, and we are not a party to any deal between users.
To sell, we require your matric number, a photo of your student ID and a selfie holding it. We use these only to verify who you are, prevent fraud, and meet legal obligations. A "Verified" badge means you passed our checks at the time; it is not a guarantee of an item's quality or a user's conduct.
You may only list items you own or are authorised to sell, described honestly with real photos. You must not list or promote:
We may remove listings and suspend or ban accounts that break these rules.
Meet in public campus locations, preferably the Safety Hubs shown in the app. Inspect items before confirming. Never share your PIN, OTP or password with anyone, including people claiming to be Sureo staff.
Reviews must be honest and based on a real transaction. Fake, paid or retaliatory reviews are not allowed. You can report any listing or user, and we may act on reports at our discretion. Disputes between users should first be attempted in good faith; Sureo may help mediate but is not obliged to.
You keep ownership of what you post, but you give Sureo a non-exclusive, free licence to display, store and distribute it on the platform for the purpose of running and promoting the service.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms, put others at risk, or are required to be closed by law. You can close your account at any time by contacting us.
Sureo is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent allowed by Nigerian law, we are not liable for the quality, safety, legality or delivery of items or services; for the acts or omissions of users; or for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud or death or personal injury caused by negligence.
We may update these Terms. If changes are material we will notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use Sureo after the effective date means you accept the update.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Disputes will be handled by the courts of Nigeria, after a good-faith attempt to resolve them informally first.

Sureo ("we", "us") is the data controller for personal data processed through this platform. This policy is written to align with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).
Your student ID photo and selfie are used only to verify you are a real student, are transmitted over encrypted connections, are stored in a private bucket with restricted access, and are never displayed to other users.
We do not sell your personal data.
Some providers may process data outside Nigeria. Where that happens we take steps required by the NDPA to protect it.
We keep data while your account is active and afterwards only as long as needed for legal, tax, fraud-prevention and dispute purposes. After that it is deleted or anonymised.
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and monitoring. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and never share OTPs or PINs.
Under the NDPA you may ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or port your data, withdraw consent, or object to certain processing. Email privacy@sureo.ng and we will respond within a reasonable time. You also have the right to complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
Sureo is not intended for anyone under 18 acting alone. If we learn we hold data of a minor without proper consent we will delete it.
We use essential storage to keep you signed in and remember preferences, and basic analytics to improve the app.
We will post updates here and notify you of material changes.
